Junior Front end developer (Part-time)


Cartica Sustainable solutions is building a series of Web Applications that are focused on addressing problems around creating and building awareness around Sustainability and Impact Investing.


Job description
​Our website infrastructure is outsourced and hosted in the cloud, and we use third-party providers as much as possible. We are working with software development agencies that build and deliver turnkey software solutions.

​Your role is to interact primarily with internal stakeholders and make modifications and build upon frameworks delivered to us by these groups. This involves editing HTML, CSS and Javascript files directly as required.

You will work in an international team and where a small group is based in Mauritius.

Please note that this is a start-up operation, and you will wear multiple hats and must adapt to an evolving situation.

​Qualifications and Industry experience
You are most likely a recent graduate in IT or finishing your education. You have been building and coding for several years as a hobby or via internships.

You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in developing websites and working with Javascript.


You are a learning front end development, specifically HTML, PHP, CSS and Javascript/JSON. You are self-motivated and eager to learn.

A rudimentary understanding of the common tech stack of MERN and MEAN is required. Preference will be given to developers who have exposure to and understand NoSQL. MySQL knowledge a plus.

Linux server base knowledge and commands and use of Cloud-based virtualized solutions such as DigitalOcean or AWS. Understand use of GitHub.

Interest in Blockchain.

What we offer

  • FTE base salary of MUR 40k per month + 13th-month salary (prorate for part-time workers). Year-end bonuses based on performance.

  • We are looking for a part-time employee (20 hours a week), but will consider FTE roles for exceptional candidates.

  • Flexible and managing work-life balance. You can work partially remotely and only need to come to the office 1-2 times a week to maintain cohesion with the team.
